Through our planting partner’s verified platform, we’re able to support a range of reputable tree planting and environmental restoration projects around the world.
These projects are carefully selected and contribute not only to carbon capture and reforestation but also to wider social and economic benefits. Many of the initiatives supported, align with 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping to create positive outcomes for local communities as well as the environment.
Where Are Trees Currently Being Planted?
At the time of writing, trees purchased through eTrees are supporting a large-scale reforestation and agroforestry project in Tanzania.
The project aims to plant 4.5 million native and agroforestry trees to address a number of environmental challenges affecting the region, including deforestation, biodiversity loss, and the impacts of climate change. The initiative also seeks to reduce pressure caused by unsustainable farming practices while creating opportunities that can benefit local communities experiencing high levels of poverty.
As an example, one recent eTrees customer purchased 213 trees through our platform. Those trees are estimated to capture approximately 319.5 tonnes of CO₂ over their lifetime and have been allocated to this Tanzania-based project.
